 Holly Zaborowski, LCSW NCG
Shay Jacobson, RN MA NMG
Martha Kern

“I let things slowly get away from me.”

This is what Mildred told us as she teetered atop a pile of garbage at the front door of her suburban townhome.

Mildred, an 80-year-old woman, lived alone and had clearly experienced steady erosion in her cognitive status. She was unable to comprehend and respond to a series of overtures made by the village concerning the condition of her home. After Mildred failed to respond to several letters, a village employee paid a visit to the house. Register for the 2013 National Guardianship Association Colloquium

“Fluctuating Competencies: How to Maintain Person-Centered Guardianship from Inception of Guardianship to Restoration of Rights” is the theme of this year’s NGA Colloquium.  This national conference will be held on May 17, 2013, at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare.

Shay Jacobson, a National Master Guardian, an elected member of the NGA’s Board and a member of the educational committee, is chairing the Colloquium’s planning committee. She will participate on a panel with Attorney Kerry Peck and the Honorable Carolyn Quinn of the Circuit Court of Cook County. They will discuss Restoration, an area of increasing importance as   advances in medical care, mental health care, addiction treatment programs, and life skills programs have resulted in the need for guardians to be vigilant in evaluating the suitability for partial or full restoration of rights.

To find out more about this great event you can view the full agenda and then register.
