Shay Jacobson Adds Two New Credentials

After undergoing the rigors of separate certification exams, Shay Jacobson, President and Founder of Lifecare Innovations, has two new credentials after her name: LNCC and CNLCP.

The first, LNCC, stands for Legal Nurse Consultant Certified. The American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board (ALNCCB) administers the Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC®) program.

According to the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants website (aalnc.org), “As the only practice-based certification program that meets national testing standards, the LNCC® is comparable to board certification in other nursing specialties. In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes with certification, LNCs who invest their time in achieving and maintaining LNCC® certification can be comfortable in the knowledge that they have achieved a credential that has met or exceeded ABNS / ABSNC requirements, and is the gold standard for certification in the specialty.”

The CNLCP credential stands for Certified Nurse Life Care Planner. While this group collaborates with the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners, this is a separate certification designed to ensure that a nurse life care planner’s practice is “consistent with established standards of excellence in the development and defense of the life care planning document”.

Congratulations to Shay on her growing expertise in the area of Life Care Planning, and on the rather impressive row of credentials that now follow her name: RN, MA, NMG, LNCC, CNLCP.

LCI Now Boasts Two National Master Guardians

Shay Jacobson and Lauren Sherman recently passed an arduous written test to become National Master Guardians.  There are only 60 individuals nationally who have succeeded in passing the National Master Guardian exam, and just four others live in the State of Illinois.

The test, administered in conjunction with the National Guardianship Association conference, spanned several hours and is administered only to those who fulfill a number of pre-requisites.  Master Guardian candidates must first become National Certified Guardians, have a graduate degree and at least three years of full-time professional guardianship experience, and have completed at least 30 hours of approved continuing education credit in the prior three-year period.

The test focused on expertise in the areas of decision making, courts and legal processes, professional business practices, the guardianship planning process, medical and complex issues, financial management and the limitations and termination of guardianship.

Shay Jacobson is President of Lifecare Innovations, and Lauren Sherman is Director of Guardianship.

Walking to End Alzheimers

Lifecare Innovations’ staff members joined a large, enthusiastic group to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s on Sunday, September 18, 2011.  The event featured a 5K walk along the lakefront, made all the more fun by a blended group consisting of several business organizations.  Our group was pulled together by our friends at Peck Bloom and we are grateful for all their efforts in bringing this wonderful opportunity together.
