Lifecare Innovations: A Company Overview
Hello, I’m Martha Kern and I’ve had the privilege of working at Lifecare Innovations for about 15 years now. We provide a realm of services but basically, help take care of people of all ages who for one reason or another cannot manage the stresses of day-to-day life on their own.
We often take for granted all that we do in our lives to keep them on track, so perhaps as we age, which is about half of the people we serve they’re just getting on in years they’re suffering some medical setbacks their senses are not as sharp as they once were, we may find managing the house and their own care to be an increasing challenge that they’re not really equipped to deal with on their own anymore.
We also serve a large number of younger individuals who have developmental disabilities, psychiatric impairments, traumatic brain injuries, really any of a host of things that can rob a person of their full independence. A lot of these younger folks grow up with their parents, you know this is how we how we manage things, they stay home and they live with their mom and dad and it’s a beautiful system and everybody is well served until such time as mom and dad get a little older and maybe they can’t meet all those needs quite so well anymore and then worry they worry a lot about what what’s going to happen to their son or daughter when they’re not able to meet all their needs anymore and that’s one way one way we can really give them. That peace of mind. You know it’s okay to focus on yourself and manage your own medical needs because we will watch out for your son or daughter and make sure that all their needs are met and that they’re coached through their day in much the same way their parents coach them.
We have social workers who help with care coordination, help people get to the doctor, make sure they’re fresh groceries in the house, really all of those things that family would do if they live nearby and had time to spend on these things, which most of us don’t.
We’re also guardians of about 70 to 100 adult disabled people who may have had a power of attorney plan that didn’t work out or they may never have had the appropriate candidate in their lives and never made that designation and now they’re not able to execute a power of attorney because they have Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. For that we offer safety and security and oversight. We make sure all of their needs are met we’re under the auspices of the court and we report to the court with regularity about how they’re doing and what kinds of things are going on in their lives.
We also have non medical care givers. We’re licensed in the state of Illinois to provide that service. So when I say non-medical I mean they run the household. You can have somebody who comes for a few hours a day or who comes all day every day, or who even lives in when the needs get to that point. They run the household, they grocery shop, they prepare meals, they keep our loved ones clean and well-groomed, they keep the house clean, they basically run the house so that that person is safe well fed well tended and fully supervised.
As a licensed provider of that service we provide background checks, drug screens, we fully supervised and do everything possible to pair your loved one with the caregiver who will best serve their needs.
We also do a lot of work with attorneys in the medical malpractice areas. Sometimes people are not well served by a hospital or nursing home and they may have a legal action that we can offer some clinical assistance with.
So, I invite you to call us, even if you’re not sure it’s a need that we can meet, we are happy to point you in the right direction if it’s not a service we provide. We always offer a complimentary introductory meeting to. We’d love to come and meet with you in the family home or at your attorney’s office or at the bank or anywhere where you feel comfortable to kind of math out how we can specifically help your loved one.
So, thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more about us and we look forward to meeting you in person.
